# who's behind the commits

Boitumelo Matome Thobejane

I'm a Computer Science graduate with almost two years of practical experience across software development, web development and technical support. Most of that time has been at Investhood IT 2.0 in Midrand, working inside real project teams on applications that have users.

I work across the whole stack — Java and Spring Boot on the back end, React and Tailwind on the front, MySQL and MongoDB underneath — and I'm comfortable in the unglamorous parts too: writing the queries, fixing the auth flow, chasing a bug through three layers, testing it, and pushing it live.

Outside of that I run a small freelance practice building websites for businesses around Phalaborwa and Namakgale — hardware suppliers, a church, restaurants, schools. Those projects taught me the part no tutorial covers: talking to a client who doesn't speak in tickets, and turning what they mean into what I build. I also do hands-on hardware work, from opening a laptop to swapping RAM and drives.

Grade Genius

Educational platform for school revision and learning, built with a team of eight.

the problem

Learners needed one trustworthy place to revise — which means accounts have to be secure, and the interface has to work at 11pm on a cheap phone.

Municipal Citizen App

Citizen-service application for reporting municipal issues and managing complaints.

Residents report a burst pipe or a broken streetlight and hear nothing back. The app gives every complaint an identity: logged, assigned, tracked, closed.

An interactive drill that teaches Grade 3 learners capitalization rules.

Young learners needed practice with capitalization that felt like a game, not a worksheet — and had to run on the devices schools already have.
